An airline pilot gave a congratulatory speech over the tannoy after his flight full of football fans managed to drain the plane’s booze supply in just over three hours.

The Southwest pilot was flying the plane from Oakland, California, to Kansas City on Wednesday before the following day’s NFL game was held there.

He was reportedly so impressed that the passengers had drunk all the alcohol on board that he announced it over the speaker.

Sports reporter, Jimmy Durkin, who writes about the Oakland’s Raiders team, was a passenger on the flight alongside a number of other supporters clad in the team’s colours.

He Tweeted: “Announcement on flight to Kansas City congratulates the entire aircraft for wiping them completely out of booze. Yep, it's a Raiders flight.”

Mr Durkin told Fox News, however, that despite the revelry, there was no bad behaviour on the trip.

Not particularly rowdy,” he said. ”And yeah, a decent amount of folks in Raiders gear.

“Pretty standard fare for a flight to a city where the Raiders are playing.”
