Shocking moment man struck by lightning while walking his dogs

This is the shocking moment a man was hit by a bolt of lightning while out on an evening stroll.

Alex Coreas was walking his three dogs near the Stuebner Airline Veterinary Hospital in Spring, Texas, when the sudden flash knocked him off his feet.

CCTV footage from a security camera outside the clinic shows him floored by a bright white spark, sending his three German Shepherds fleeing in terror.

Luckily, two workers at the animal hospital spotted the incident and immediately rushed to his aid.

"I started running through the hospital because someone was like 'we need help with CPR’,'" staff member Christy Mittler told local broadcaster KTRK.

When she and a vet technician, named only as Bill, reached Mr Coreas, he had no heartbeat.

“He wasn't breathing, his clothes were charred and his shoes and his socks got blown off his feet," Ms Mittler said.

Bill swiftly administered CPR before the victim was taken to a local hospital.

The family created a GoFundMe page to raise money for his road to recovery

His family wrote in a statement on a GoFundMe page that he had sustained serious injuries but miraculously survived.

“We would like to take this moment in thanking Bill, the good samaritans, the community, the first responders, life flight, cops, friends, and family for helping him out,” they wrote on the page, titled ‘Alexander’s Road to Recovery’.

“If it was not for you all, he would not be where he is. Had it not been for each and every one of you there would be no telling where Alexander’s life would be.”

The lightning strike left a gaping hole in the concrete where he and his dogs were walking, KTRK reported.

Shortly after the near-fatal incident, police officers retrieved the dogs from nearby woodland.
