The sister of a British man killed in the massacre at the Bataclan concert hall has said the terrorists responsible are “not worth our hatred”.

Nick Alexander, 36, from Colchester, Essex, was selling merchandise for American rock band Eagles of Death Metal at their concert in Paris on Friday, November 13, when the gunfire attack broke out.

The Islamic extremists killed 89 people at the concert hall, wounded many others and took concert goers hostage in the venue before blowing themselves up as police stormed the building.

But Mr Alexander’s sister, Zoe, said she was from a peaceful family and wanted to focus on “the positives”.

She told Channel 4 News: "It's not worth our hatred. It's not worth our energy to focus on misery. We need to move forward with life and life is for living, life is for laughing. That's how we intend to remember Nick.

"The best thing we can do in light of these atrocities is to smile and carry forward and keep living life and keep embracing life and that is the biggest victory we can all have against these kind of horrors."

Ms Alexander said her family had “hoped and waited” for news that her brother was safe, but their worst fears were confirmed when Scotland Yard said a car was being sent round.

Mr Alexander was described as a “genuine, gentle guy” and his sister said he is “still part of our family and he is giving us the strength as well to move forward”.

She added: "It was a waste of life but it wasn't a wasted life and we need to focus on that message of positivity."

The Californian band, who have since returned to America and cancelled remaining tour dates, have offered their condolences to Mr Alexander’s family.

His sister said: "A touring family is like a family.

“They were his family on that night and I think they felt that they weren't looking after their family. But they were. He died with family and that is a good thing for us.”
