A fired employee who was 'trying to convert colleagues to Islam' decapitated one female worker and stabbed another before he was shot by his boss, police said.

Alton Nolen, an employee at Vaughan Foods in Oklahoma, went into a fit of rage after he was sacked from his job at the food plant, said a police statement.

The attack reportedly began at 4pm yesterday afternoon when he went into the car park and drove his vehicle to the front of the warehouse, hitting another car.

He then walked through the entrance and launched his knife rampage, it is alleged.

The first victim is believed to be Colleen Hufford, 54.

Police said during a press conference: “He did kill Colleen and did sever her head.”

Nolen then began to attack Traci Johnson, 43, before he was shot and wounded, police said.

Mark Vaughn, chief operating officer and a reserve police officer, is reported to have shot the 30-year-old after Nolen allegedly stabbed the second woman.

Both Nolen and the second victim are said to be in a stable condition.

A police spokeswoman said Nolen had “recently been trying to convert some of his co-workers to the Muslim faith”.

The statement went on to suggest the workers were attacked at random.

According to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Nolen has been convicted in the past for marijuana possession, intent to distribute cocaine, escape from detention and assault on a police officer.
