A Mercedes driver was caught on camera making a costly mistake after she drove over the bonnet of a Ferrari.

Footage taken from a meeting of car enthusiasts at Great Falls, Virgina, on Saturday, showed petrolheads looking on in horror as the Mercedes driver’s back wheel mounts the front of the sports car.

The Ferrari 458 Speciale, worth around £230,000, is seen buckling under the weight of the convertible Mercedes, ironically parked outside an opticians.

The shocked owner of the Italian supercar is seen shouting at the driver of the Mercedes after returning from a nearby coffee shop.

He said: “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen.”

The driver then appears to further damage to the Ferrari by driving forward and back over the bonnet.

The Mercedes driver, who was visibly shocked, got out of the car to talk to him, saying “Oh my god, I’m shaking”.

Photos taken from after the incident showed the Ferrari had suffered a large dent in its bonnet as well as scratches and tyre marks.
