Moment herd of cows 'help police catch car thieves'

Alexandra Richards8 August 2018

This is the moment a herd of cows apparently helped police catch two car thieves in Florida.

Footage captured by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office showed two car thieves abandoning their vehicle following a police chase on Sunday.

The thieves then made a bid for freedom across an open field to escape the officers.

But as the suspects ran across the field, they appeared to disturb a herd of cows.

The animals began to chase after the men and video footage showed one of the men attempting to avoid the herd as the cows formed a circle around him.

Eventually the cows managed to herd the thief out of the field and onto a nearby road.

Police were then able to catch up with the suspect and handcuff him.

On the Seminole County Sheriff Office’s Facebook page officers wrote: “Our alert team assisted the Sanford Police Department on Sunday, tracking down two suspects who crashed a stolen car, bailed out and ran.

“A group of cows provided law enforcement a big assist, repeatedly following and helping corral one who strayed on to their turf!”
