Brave firefighters rescued the freezing dog

A firefighter risks his life to save a dog which got stuck in a frozen creek in Canada.

Swift Current fire chief Denis Pilon posted a video of his rescue on Facebook as a warning to Saskatchewans to avoid the ice as temperatures plunged to -20C.

The video, viewed 110,000 times, shows the firefighter sliding on his belly to reach the dog, which has its rear legs stuck under the surface.

As he tried to free the animal, the ice breaks, sending both rescuer and animal into the water.

Both were pulled to safety by other firefighters.
