An eagle swoops on a terrified young boy during a birds of prey show.

The wedge-tailed eagle is believed to have become antagonised after the boy kept playing with the zip on his top.

The bird swooped on the boy at Alice Springs Desert Park and latched its talons onto his head, in an apparent attempt to drag him away.

The bird had been trained to fly over the crowd to land on a perch as it had been trained to, but instead flew at the child.

Christine O’Connell, captured the moment the bird dived on the youngster, and uploaded an image to Instagram.

She wrote: “At a nature park in Alice Springs we decided to go to a bird show the young boy in the green kept pulling his zipper up and down.

"For some reason the wedge-tailed eagle did not like it and instead of flying over to the log he is meant to for a photo opportunity he flew straight at the young boy and attacked him.”

The boy was treated by first aiders for superficial injuries. A spokeswoman for the attraction said: “A thorough investigation regarding the circumstances behind this incident is under way and the eagle will be removed from the show while this investigation is ongoing.”
