Kelsey Turner, from California, pleaded guilty to the 2019 slaying in November and was on Tuesday ordered to serve a miniumum of 10 years behind bars but possibly as long as 25.
The 29-year-old entered what is known as an Alford plea, meaning she only admitted that prosecutors had enough evidence to prove her guilt.
Turner and partner Jon Kennison were both accused of killing Thomas Burchard whose body was found in the boot of Turner’s car near Lake Mead east of Las Vegas in March 2019.
Police believe he was beaten to death with a baseball bat.
In July last year Kennison was sentenced to up to 45 years in prison for second-degree murder.
The couple’s roommate, Diana Pena, pleaded guilty in June 2019 to accessory to murder and testified that she helped clean the crime scene and fled the state with the couple.
Police reports showed Turner and Mr Burchard knew each other for about two years, and he had been helping pay her bills for much of that time.
Judy Earp, Thomas Burchard’s fiancé, claims that he had given Turner around $300,000 to be his “sugar baby” over the years.
