Hungarian camerawoman Petra Laszlo 'plans to sue Syrian refugee she tripped up'

The Hungarian camerawoman who sparked outrage by tripping a refugee and his son as they fled from police has reportedly announced plans to sue the Syrian father.

Petra Laszlo was sacked from Hungarian TV channel N1TV after footage of the incident at the Hungary-Serbia border went viral in September.

She was filmed tripping Syrian refugee Osama Abdul Mohsen, who was carrying his seven-year-old son Zaid, and the boy suffered concussion after hitting his head when they stumbled to the ground.

Ms Laszlo later apologised for her actions – but she has now declared her intention to sue both Mr Mohsen and Facebook over the incident, according to reports.

She told Russian newspaper Izvestia that Facebook had failed to act when groups were set up to attack her, including one called the “Petra Laszlo Shame Wall” which has thousands of likes.

The camerawoman claims she has received death and rape threats on social media.

She was quoted as saying: “We believe Facebook played a major role in my situation. It helped embitter people against me.”

Meanwhile, she accused Mr Mohsen of “changing his testimony” because “he initially blamed the police".

She is currently facing a criminal trial, due to take place in December, and plans to launch legal action after its conclusion.

She also said she plans to leave Hungary and migrate to Russia after her trial.

Mr Mohsen and his family were invited to live in Spain after the footage emerged.

The father was offered a job as a football coach and his son Zaid got to meet his hero Cristiano Ronaldo.
