A hilarious video shows the moment panicked shoppers in Ireland cleared a trolley of bread in seconds as the country braced for Storm Emma.

CCTV footage shared on Twitter captured shoppers rushing to stock up on bread before it even hit the shelves as forecasters warned of blizzard conditions.

A national red severe weather warning was issued across Ireland warning people to "take action" against sub-zero temperatures and potentially record-breaking snowfall.

National forecaster Met Éireann warned of "extremely hazardous conditions" until Friday.

In the clip, posted by Sky News journalist Darren McCaffrey, a member of staff can be seen dragging the trolley of bread onto the shop floor.

A crowd quickly gathers, with many grabbing multiple loaves straight from the cart before it even stops moving.

And seconds later the trolley is almost empty.

Brits rushed to stock up on supplies as the "Beast from the East" approached, leaving shops barren.
