Henry Thomas arrested: ET actor 'had to be woken up after being found drunk at wheel of car'

Actor Henry Thomas, best known for his role as Elliot in ET the Extra-Terrestrial, has been arrested after allegedly being found drunk at the wheel of his car in the US.

Police found him passed out in the driver’s seat and officers had to wake him up before they arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving, according to TMZ.

Another motorist called 911 around 8.30pm on Tuesday to report that driver was stopped in the middle of a residential intersection in the state of Oregon, the celebrity news website reported.

Officers arrived to find Thomas in his car and he was given a sobriety test

The star was then taken to Washington County Jail, where he was charged with driving under the influence.

Thomas played Elliott, the young boy who befriends an alien in the classic 1982 movie ET. He has also appeared in Gangs of New York and Legends of the Fall.
