A group on a hen party were removed from a flight for wearing offensive t-shirts with the phrase ‘bitches on tour’ emblazoned on them.
The airline deemed the t-shirts offensive and flight crew removed the women from the plane, causing them to shell out an extra £2,000 on alternative flights.
Jet2 said the women, who were flying from East Midlands Airport, were given several chances to remove or cover up their t-shirts.
But bride-to-be Emma Green, 35, said “nobody” mentioned the t-shirts until her group was being removed.
She told the Leicester Mercury from her hotel room in Mallorca her trip was “completely ruined” after the group were asked to leave.
She added: “It's going to be really hard to enjoy ourselves now.”
Jet2 released a statement defending their actions.
The airline said: “The group were asked to either wear different attire or cover up the offensive language, and were reminded of this on numerous occasions, including by the airport police whilst in the departures area.
“Once in the cabin, and in the presence of families and young children, several members of the group decided to ignore these repeated warnings, at which point our crew took the decision to remove them from the flight.
“The flight has departed, and we apologise to all other customers for the delay and inconvenience that this caused at the start of their holiday.”
Police were called to the airport but no arrests were made.
