Two men have been arrested after a British radio presenter was murdered at his home in Lebanon.

Gavin Ford, 53, was reportedly found strangled in his apartment near the capital Beirut on Monday.

A source close to Lebanon's Internal Security Force told the local Daily Star: “Two men have been arrested for the murder of the Radio One presenter Gavin Ford.

“The men, who are Syrian, were detained in the Bekaa Valley.”

Mr Ford had worked for the country’s Radio One since the 1990s, hosting popular breakfast show Gavin Ford in the Morning.

His death led to an outpouring of grief on social media.

The station said on Facebook: “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear Gavin Ford, a member of our team for many joyful years.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues all over the world.

“Rest In Peace Gavin.”
