Furious customers have slammed plans put forward by an airline to weigh passengers at check-in.
Hawaiian Airlines has come under fire after announcing that flyers will be allocated seats based on their weight.
Customers will no longer be able to select seats on flights between Pago Pago and Honolulu before they travel.
According to Radio New Zealand, the company claim the policy will allow weight to be distributed evenly throughout the plane.
Businessman Avamua David Haleck filed a complaint against the airline.
He told the radio station: “Hawaiian is saying that ‘yes it is a safety issue’ but, you know, weight distribution… so have we been flying unsafe for all these years?”
The US Transportation Department is investigating Mr Avamua’s complaint.
Hawaiian Airlines has been contacted for a comment.
