Three people were reportedly injured when an armed gang shot at the team filming a music video for French rapper Booba.

Up to 20 people took part in the attack outside a warehouse in Paris' northern suburb of Aulnay-sous-Bois, Europe 1 radio reported.

The gang allegedly launched the ambush shortly before midnight on Tuesday, armed with guns, iron bars and baseball bats.

Three people were injured including the director, the radio station said. Booba had already left the set by the time of the assault.

Reports said one local person watching the film crew was shot in the legs and taken to hospital.

The director and another crew member suffered head wounds after they were attacked by baseball bats.

The crew fled the scene in a car and were reportedly chased by the attackers until they found refuge in a shop.

Le Parisien reporter Victor Tassel said the video had been filmed on an industrial estate in Aulnay.

Detectives said they do not know the motive for the attack.

Booba, whose real name is Elie Yaffa, has been filming a video this week for his new song Glaive, which came out at the start of August.

The rapper's film crew tweeted shots of the set in Nanterre, just east of Paris where another part of the video was filmed on Monday night, featuring boxer Bilel Jkitou in a boxing ring.

According to Le Parisien, the video was being directed by French filmmaker Chris Macari, who has worked with the artist for several years.

In October, Booba was handed an 18-month suspended prison sentence for a fight with fellow rapper Kaaris in a duty-free shop at Orly airport.

The pair collaborated in the past but then fell out, prompting an ongoing rivalry that lead to part of the airport being closed and delays for hundreds of travellers.
