Footage shows man using Tesla app to move car remotely every two hours to avoid parking fines outside his office

A man has shown how he moves his Tesla using the mobile app every two hours to avoid parking fines outside his office – with the car company’s founder Elon Musk calling the tactic “cool”.

Shawn Kennedy, of Madison, Wisconsin, shared his video on Twitter and said: “City started enforcing two hour parking so now I move my car every two hours… from my office.”

The video then shows him filming down from his window as he moves his black vehicle slowly from one spot back into another using a Tesla app on his mobile.

He added: “I was not sure when I would use this feature… till today.”

He tagged Elon Musk in his post with the entrepreneur responding with “cool haha”.

Mr Musk, who also retweeted the video, then wrote: “For those unfamiliar, this uses Tesla Autopark/Summon. Slightly smarter version hopefully ready soon. By next year, a Tesla should be able to drive around a parking lot, find an empty spot, read signs to confirm it’s valid & park.”

He also went on to explain how the feature would upgrade so people could have their car “drive to your location & follow you like a pet” or be driven “remotely like a big RC car if in line of sight”.

The original post spread widely on social media.

One person wrote: “Can afford a Tesla but won’t pay for parking... the kinda rich I aspire to be.”

Another said: “It's great to reminisce about the old days when you couldn't move your car with your phone.”
