Fake heiress Anna Sorokin has been released from prison early and is already asking for more cash on Twitter, according to reports.

The Russian-born Anna Sorokin masqueraded as a wealthy German socialite, hobnobbing on private jets and dropping thousands of dollars a night at New York’s hottest restaurants.

But behind the scenes, it was an elaborate scam - she was reportedly promising fake wire transfers, taking out massive loans, and forcing her friends to cover her enormous bills.

Using the alias Anna Delvey she told people she was from Cologne, even though by all accounts her German wasn’t particularly good.

She famously hosted dinner parties with guests including Macaulay Culkin and Martin Shkreli. She was always seen decked out in designer brands including Balenciaga, Celine, and Supreme.

Delvey was eventually arrested in California, where she was hiding out in the popular Malibu treatment center Passages. Even her choice of rehab was expensive -Marc Jacobs and Mel Gibson both spent time there.

But she had to swap the plush west coast surroundings for notorious New York jail Rikers Island as she awaited trial.

In May 2019, Sorokin was sentenced to between four to 12 years in prison.

Her sentence included the time she had spent in jail on Rikers Island ahead of her trial and was shortened for good behaviour.

On her release she instantly created a new Twitter profile with the bio “I’m back” to mock the department of justice’s conviction of her, saying “Good Job!”

Then she started asking for a job and money again, in tweets sent from the hastily suspended account.

In one she wrote: “Someone from Fortress Investment Group - I need $720m by the end of next week. DM me.”

Because Ms Sorokin is a German citizen, she could be deported by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. That said, deportations have also been affected by the coronavirus pandemic and Joe Biden coming into office.

The forthcoming Netflix series, Inventing Anna, where Ms Sorokin will be played by Ozark star Julia Garner, has also resumed production after a delay due to the coronavirus.

Ms Sorokin is now using $199,000 from Netflix, who bought her story rights, to pay restitution to the banks she scammed, plus $24,000 in state fines.
