A flight recorder recovered from the tragic EgyptAir flight has been successfully repaired in France.

Flight MS804 was carrying 56 passengers and 10 crew members from Paris to Cairo when it plunged into the Mediterranean Sea, killing all on board.

It is hoped that experts will be able to analyse the data to establish what caused the Airbus A320 to crash, which is still unknown.

Before it disappeared from radar screens around 2.45am Cairo time (12.45am GMT) on May 19, the plane spun all the way around and suddenly lost altitude.

Search teams have since recovered the damaged cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder.

The damaged electronic boards arrived in Paris on Monday and the flight data recorder has since been fully repaired according to a statement released by the Egyptian investigation committee.

The cause of the crash is yet to be established, but prosecutors in Paris have opened a manslaughter inquiry, saying there is not yet any evidence to link the crash to terrorism.

On Monday a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office said the inquiry was launched as an accident investigation and not a terrorism probe.
