Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been found guilty of the Boston Marathon bombing which killed four people and left 264 others with serious injuries.

The 21-year-old killer, an ethnic Chechen from Russia, is now facing a possible death sentence for the twin blast at the 2013 race.

The attack was one of the most prominent terrorist attacks in the US since 9/11.

Tsarnaev's conviction for the bombing was widely expected. His lawyer opened the case saying that the former student had taken part in the attack.

But the lawyer had also argued Tsarnaev's older brother, Tamerlan, masterminded the blasts and enlisted his then-19-year-old brother to help. Tamerlan died in a shoot-out with police.

Prosecutors portrayed the brothers as full partners in a plan to retaliate against the US for its wars in Muslim countries.

Today Dzhokhar was today found guilty of all 30 charges against him at a federal court, 17 of which carry the possibility of the death penalty.
