Duckling crossing causes world’s cutest traffic jam

Dozens of ducklings sparked a heartwarming traffic jam, as a mother duck guided them across a five-lane road.

The mother shepherded the 45 babies in two waves of 22 and 23, bringing cars to a standstill.

Delighted onlooker Karen Ramunno captured the adorable scene on video in the US town of Biddeford, Maine.

The impromptu parade brought traffic to a standstill in both directions, according to eye-witness reports.

All 46 made it safely across.

It is unlikely the adult duck was the parent to all the young, experts have suggested.

One explanation for the unusually large brood is that some bird species group fledglings together to make it easier to care for them.
