This is the terrifying moment a tree fell onto the cables of a chair lift as skiers made their way to the top of pistes.

A dramatic video of the incident shows a tree - thought to be almost 100 feet tall - collapsing onto the moving lift in Ukraine.

The lift stops as the tree teeters in snowy conditions on the resort, believed to be Bukovel.

The pine tree then sheds branches before falling from the ski lift's cables, on which it had been resting.

Its collapse leaves other chairs on the lift swaying perilously close to others - including one apparently carrying a man and a woman.

Despite the near miss the skier who filmed the video, which was posted to YouTube on Sunday, appears unfazed and appears to laugh about the incident.

It is not believed that anybody was injured.

Bukovel is a popular resort in eastern Ukraine, close to the borders with Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.

It was established in 2005 and bills itself as "Ukraine's premier ski resort".
