Donald Trump Jr’s marriage to former model wife Vanessa is on the rocks, it was claimed today.
The president’s oldest son had reportedly hoped to avoid a divorce while Mr Trump remained in the White House.
But, according to fresh reports in the United States, the couple who have five young children have been finding it harder to resolve their problems.
“The problems have been there for a long time. He’s never there,” claimed a source. “Vanessa is a devoted mother, but she is increasingly lonely and alone in the house with the children.”
Friends reportedly said no divorce papers have yet been filed, but the pair were said to be living “separate lives” and expected to make their separation official soon, claimed the New York Post.
However, another insider was quoted as saying the couple were hoping to save their 13-year marriage.
“Donald Jr. and Vanessa have been dealing with some issues, but they are not yet at the stage of filing for divorce. They are trying to deal with this privately,” the source said. “Don is still living at home, is a good dad and is super involved in his kids’ lives.
“He has always travelled for work, so his current schedule is not something out of the ordinary. He has a busy travel schedule now as he always does.”
Donald Jr, 40, is an avid hunter and is regularly abroad. There are many pictures of him online posing with the carcasses of elephants, leopards and other animals.
With brother, Eric, 34, he is running the Trump Organisation while their father is in the Oval Office.
A sombre-looking Mrs Trump, 40, was spotted in New York yesterday with oldest daughter, Kai, 10. The couple have four other children, Donald III, nine, Tristan, seven, Spencer, five, and three-year-old Chloe.
Vanessa was said to have been absent from a number of recent family events, including their annual New Year’s Eve gala.
The couple have not responded to requests for comment.
Donald Jr proposed to Vanessa, who was a model and actress at the time, with a $100,000 engagement ring back in 2004 and they were married at Mar-a-Lago in November 2005.
Prior to the wedding, Vanessa had been linked to Leonardo DiCaprio and had a small role in the film Something’s Gotta Give. She was hospitalised recently after receiving a letter that contained a white powder substance.

The letter was addressed to her husband but Vanessa was taken to the hospital as a precaution along with her mother, who was in the same room when she opened it. A democratic activist was later arrested for sending the letter.
