Disturbing video footage has emerged which is said to show the Florida gunman doing target practice in his garden while wearing a 'Make America Great Again' cap.

Nikolas Cruz, 19, has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder of pupils and teachers at his former school in Parkland following the horrifying school shooting on Wednesday.

The clip, obtained by CNN, is believed to have been filmed by a neighbour in October - just a few months before the shooting.

In it, the shirtless teenager, wearing a pair of boxer shorts, socks and a cap, fires rounds from what appears to be a BB gun in broad daylight.

At brief court hearing on Thursday, Cruz, who was detained about two miles from the scene, spoke only to confirm his name.

The teenager reportedly commented on YouTube last year that he would be a "professional school shooter”. He confessed to the killings after being detained, a court heard yesterday.

Teachers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are believed to have been warned about Cruz, who was reportedly not allowed on the premises with a backpack.

He had been expelled last year, reportedly after knives and bullets were found in his bag.

Meanwhile, since his arrest the FBI has launched a review into its handling of warnings it received about the teenager after he was identified as a threat months before he allegedly burst into the school.

He had also “joked” about killing his former classmates. One said: “He played around with this joke all the time, like he knows the layout of the school, he can actually go ahead and pinpoint where all the students would be.”

The alleged killer also posted pictures on Instagram showing him posing with guns, knives and and dead animals.

Meanwhile tributes have poured in for the 17 innocent victims of the massacre after they were officially named by police.

A swimmer who had just won a college scholarship, a freshman soccer player and a football coach at the Parkland school were among those killed by the gunman.
