A couple married for more than 60 years died just 20 minutes apart from each other in the same room.

Henry and Jeanette De Lange both died on July 31 in a nursing home after sharing 63 years of marriage and raising five children.

87 year-old Mrs De Lange, who was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, was the first to pass, while her family read passages of the bible to her.

One of their sons, Lee De Lange, told KSFY news: “We read Psalm 103. We didn’t quite get done.

“She passed away very, very peacefully. Gone to heaven.”

Mr De Lange added that one of his brothers whispered to his father, 86, who was suffering from prostate cancer, that he didn’t have to fight anymore.

Henry De Lange, a Korean War veteran then died exactly 20 minutes after his wife at 5.30pm.

Lee De Lange added that his father briefly opened his eyes to take one last look at his wife before he died.

He said: “We’re calling it a beautiful act of God’s providential love and mercy.

“You don’t pray for it because it seems mean but you couldn’t ask for anything more beautiful.
