This bungling crook was left dangling several feet off the ground while trying to steal a bike that was hanging outside a shop.

A man spotted donated bicycles hanging outside Woodinville Bicycle in Seattle and was caught on camera attempting to try his luck at getting a bicycle for himself.

Realising he is not tall enough to reach them, he eyes up the bicycles and begins to move what appears to be a grill or a ladder which has been left outside the shop.

At one point, the man goes away for a short time but returns with a stool and begins his attempted feat.

Propping the ladder against the wall, he wrestles furiously with the bicycles which are hooked to a roof canopy but to no avail.

The man, who is dressed in a baseball cap and blue jacket continues to try his luck, even picking up the stool to use as a tool to latch on to the bicycle.

As the man’s determination continues, he props the ladder high against the wall and tries again to release the bicycle.

But his attempt comes crashing to the ground as the ladder slips and he is left dangling from the bicycle wheel.

As the footage, which was filmed between 1.30am and 1.47am on October 29, comes to an end, the man is seen getting down from the ladder and leaving the scene as a police car arrives.

Posting on the video, Woodinville Bicycle said the man had been caught, but it was unclear if any charges were brought against him.
