British boy dies in 11-storey fall from Dubai building site

An investigation is under way after a British schoolboy fell 11 floors to his death in Dubai after a night out drinking with friends.

Harry Harling, 15, who lived there with his ex-pat family, plunged from a balcony on a building site in the early hours of Saturday.

The rugby-mad pupil, who studied at Jumeirah College, had earlier written on Twitter: “Beers and tanning with the lads just what I need.” But his last tweet has raised questions, when he cryptically wrote: “F**k the system.” Police are now trying to establish how he arrived at the site but are not treating his death as suspicious.

They said he had just left a party where he had been drinking. It is unclear where he obtained alcohol, as the legal drinking age in Dubai is 21 and strict Muslim law means it is only available in hotels.

One of Harry’s distraught friends wrote on Facebook: “I should of stayed with you till you got a taxi".

Harry and his parents and sister Rebecca, 19, moved to Dubai from Woking nine years ago.
