A nine-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint for $20 while manning his lemonade stand in North Carolina.

The victim was targeted by a teenager in a camouflage hat who held the handgun to the boy’s stomach, before demanding the cash.

After the incident, members of the community in Monroe, near Charlotte, raised $256 for the boy, who is known for other entrepreneurial activities, including mowing his neighbours’ lawns.

Tony Underwood, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said the suspect was still at large, adding: “I’ve never heard of a lemonade stand robbery. That one takes it to a new level.”
