Billionaire socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein has been arrested for allegedly clawing her boyfriend with her nails and slashing him with scissors.

Ms Wildenstein, 76 — given the nickname “catwoman” after spending millions on facial surgery to create feline features — is said to have flown into a “violent rage” and attacked fashion designer Lloyd Klein, 49, at their Trump Tower apartment in New York.

The boutique boss, whose clients include Nicki Minaj, Pink and Joan Collins, shut her in a walk-in wardrobe to try to calm her, it is claimed. Police arrived in the early hours yesterday.

She appeared at a Manhattan court last night charged with assault. The row allegedly began when Ms Wildenstein — who has also been dubbed “Bride of Wildenstein” — complained Mr Klein was spending too much time on social media and threw a burning candle at him.

“They had a relaxing dinner, everything was normal then Jocelyn suddenly got angry,” a source was reported as saying.

“Lloyd was using his laptop and evidently not paying her enough attention. She screamed at him to get off the computer then picked up a lit candle and threw hot wax over him.

“He was very scared, he asked her to calm down but she got angrier and threatened to kill him. She went at his face with her nails, which are real and very sharp, before grabbing scissors and stabbing them twice into his chest.”

Ms Wildenstein is said to have called police but they detained her. Her lawyer Alan Kachalsky said: “They’re making a mountain out of a molehill.” Mr Klein reportedly denied locking her in the wardrobe. He refused medical help.

Ms Wildenstein won £2 billion in her 1999 divorce from art dealer Alec. They split after he was charged with pointing a gun at her when she caught him in bed with his 19-year-old model girlfriend.
