At least four people were killed and several injured after a train collided with a military vehicle in Finland.

Three of the dead were soldiers, and one was a passenger on the train, police said.

The crash happened on a level crossing in Raseborg, about 53 miles southwest of the capital, Helsinki. A military training exercise had been taking place in the area.

Finnish news agency FNB said the injured were taken to hospitals in both Helsinki and Raseborg.

The country’s defence minister, Jussi Niinisto, tweeted that the day had “started with grim news”.

“I feel grief,” he said.
