An arrest warrant has been issued for Rose McGowan over the possession of a controlled substance.
The actress is one of a string of stars to have made sex claims about disgraced move mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Washington Police say the warrant was obtained on February 1 following a probe into belongings left at Washing Dulles International Airport on January 20.
Officers told reporters that the items tested positive for narcotics.
They added that they have attempted to contact McGowan so she can appear in a Virginia court.
The Charmed actress has yet to release an official statement on the issue.
McGowan has been one of the leading voices against sexual harassment in Hollywood in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.
She simply shared a tweet by self-proclaimed US media personality Ashlee Marie Preston which linked to an article about the warrant with the caption: “If @rosemcgowan would have taken that million dollars in hush money I'm quite sure this wouldn't even be a headline...”
McGowan added “FACT”.
The actress recently claimed that she had been raped by Weinstein. He unequivocally denies all allegations against him.
She wrote in a tweet earlier this month: “HW raped me”.
She said a year ago that she had been raped by a “studio head”, but at the time did not name anybody.
The New York Times later reported that Weinstein made a $100,000 settlement to her in 1997, said to include a clause against speaking publicly about it.
Weinstein is currently being investigated by both the Met and US police over a string of rape and sexual harassment claims by high-profile figures.
