A huge explosion has brought down a residential building in Antwerp, with a child and two others rescued from the rubble.

At least ten people were injured in the blast at a four-storey apartment block in the Belgian port city, authorities said.

Pictures from the scene showed a crane and emergency service workers inspecting the devastated building.

Antwerp Police have said the incident is not related to terrorism, with gas thought to be the most likely cause.

They added in a statement late Monday that most of the injuries were slight.

The explosion, on Paardenmarkt, is thought to have involved three separate residences.

At least one building totally collapsed. Rescue workers were still going through the debris around midnight.
