Hacker group Anonymous says it has started exposing suspected terrorists online after declaring “war” on Islamic State following the Paris attacks.

The group yesterday warned it would launch a campaign of “massive cyber attacks” and “hunt down” extremists in revenge for the shootings and suicide bombings in Paris.

It has already followed up on the threat by leaking personal details including the home address of an alleged IS recruiter in Europe, according to The Independent.

Anonymous was also reported to have hacked and taken down some 3,800 social media accounts linked to IS members and supporters since Monday, though the claims were not verified.

In the video released on Monday, a figure wearing the trademark Guy Fawkes mask and speaking in French warned the terrorist group: “Anonymous from all over the world will hunt you down.

"You should know that we will find you and we will not let you go. We will launch the biggest operation ever against you.

“Expect massive cyber attacks. War is declared. Get prepared.

"The French people are stronger than you and will come out of this atrocity even stronger."

The masked “hacktivist” group first launched cyber attacks against Islamic State after the Charlie Hebdo killings in January.

Islamic State has reportedly released a list of intructions in response to the threats, to help supporters avoid being hacked.
