Comedian Amy Schumer left a $30,000 (£22,600) tip at Manhattan’s Comedy Cellar-where she started her career as a stand-up.

The star, 40, was taking part in Marcus Lemonis’ The Great American Tip Off, which he describes as a “nationwide call to action to show some extra love to the hard-working Americans who serve us every day”.

Lemonis, known as the star of The Profit and The Renovator, posted an Instagram video of the pair visiting the club where Schumer told staff: “This is my home club… this place changed my life.”

In the clip, Lemonis, 47, tells the staff at the club, “You guys work your asses off every day, and it’s underappreciated. We want you to know that there are a lot of people that appreciate it.”

When staff are handed their $30,000 tip, one worker exclaims: “Holy s–t! Thank you very much.”

Earlier this year, Schumer - known for movies Trainwreck and I Feel Pretty - helped reopen the club along with Chris Rock, Ray Romano, Dave Attell and Colin Quinn, after it was shut due to the Covid lockdown.

She performed there in 2019 shortly after giving birth to her son, Gene.

Schumer has been married to chef Chris Fischer since 2018.

The pair recently walked the red carpet at a screening of her latest film The Humans in New York.

Lemonis made headlines last week after he donated $18,000 bonuses to every employee at the Miami high school he attended - Christopher Columbus High School. He is thought to be worth in the region of $500 million.
