Adorable moment TV correspondent is interrupted by son, four, live on air

An American news correspondent has earned the title “MSNBC Mom” after her son, crashed a live broadcast.

Similar to the viral “BBC Dad” moment which saw Professor Robert Kelly’s two children burst in during an on-air interview, news correspondent Courtney Kube was joined by her own infant gatecrasher.

Ms Kube, 41, was discussing Turkish air strikes in northern Syria on Wednesday when her son Ryan, four, crept up behind her.

Attempting to carry on with the report, the journalist’s flow was finally broken when Ryan grabbed up at her chest.

"Excuse me, my kids are here," she said, smiling and moving her son’s hands away.

"Live television,” she added, as the screen cut to a map of the Middle eastern conflict.

Following the heartwarming incident, Ms Kube told USA Today: "As soon as I realised he was standing next to me, for a second your heart kind of stops.

"I almost picked him up and put him on my lap, but I was afraid he would lean back against mic.

"I was so glad he didn't start crying. He was smiling and happy. It could've been worse."

She explained she had been forced to bring Ryan and his twin brother Jackson to NBC's Washington studio because her husband was out of town.

The boys spent a few hours there with her in the morning before she dropped them off at nursery school, she said.

MSNBC made light of the incident, posting a clip of the incident on its Twitter page.

“Sometimes unexpected breaking news happens while you're reporting breaking news,” it captioned the video, followed by the hashtags “#MSNCBMoms” and “#working moms”.

It has since been viewed more than two million times.

“That was adorable. Need some levity in these dark times,” wrote one social media user.

“MSNBC, thank you for highlighting this sweet moment and supporting your working moms,” commented another.

Another, drawing parallels with Professor Kelly’s 2017 on-air mishap, observed: “Coincidentally, both children were wearing a yellow shirt.

“Note to on air staff: Beware of yellow shirted children.”
