A top hedge fund has taken on four teenage apprentices as part of the Ladder for London campaign.

City firm Man Group will provide the new apprentices with work in either finance, sales, human resources or the technology department. They will also spend one day a week completing an NVQ with charity City Gateway.

The £16,000-a-year roles last for 12 months and could lead to permanent employment.

Luke Ellis, President of Man Group plc, said: "Hedge funds have always been an entrepreneurial industry and though Man has grown to become one of the largest listed alternative asset managers, we very much preserve that spirit.

"We are proud to be one of the only hedge funds taking part in the Ladder for London campaign. I wish the four apprentices well for their placements and look forward to seeing their progress.

"We have many talented and driven employees who they can learn a lot from to take into a career in hedge funds, the wider financial industry, or elsewhere."

Deborah Kester, head of HR, will act as mentor for one of the apprentices. She said: “The main thing we were looking for was people with enthusiasm.”

Eddie Stride, CEO of City Gateway, added: “The apprenticeships at Man Group are truly life-changing opportunities.”
