Woman in court over baby murder

A woman is to appear in court charged with the murder of an 11-month-old girl.

Lynn Jeffrey, 37, is due before Burnley magistrates accused of killing Courtney Shales in Nelson, Lancashire, on Wednesday night.

Jeffrey, of Poplar Street, Nelson, is thought to have been baby-sitting the infant at the time.

Courtney was taken ill at an address in Railway Street and rushed to Burnley Hospital, but later died.

The cause of death has not been disclosed.

A man arrested at the same time was released without charge.
