Firefighters tonight tackled two fires at Winchester prison.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said it had sent four fire engines to the category B prison just after 8pm on Friday.

According to reports, crews extinguished two "small fires" in two cells and no-one was injured.

A crew manager of Winchester fire station told the Daily Echo: "It was two small fires in two different cells, a person started one of the small fires while we were there.

"There were no injuries and everyone was fine and we cleared out the smoke."
