Several homes in a town in Jeremy Hunt's constituency have been left without water during the festive period.

Supply issues in parts of the GU4 and GU5 postcodes in Guildford mean multiple had no water at all or low water pressure.

Mr Hunt, the MP for South West Surrey, posted on X: “I know many of you are hosting friends and family and this water outage is hugely inconvenient.

“Following your requests I have raised the question of bottled water in impacted areas and also requested TW ensure vulnerable people are looked after.

“I am aware a number of you are having problems getting through on the TW hotline - also raising this with Thames Water.”

A spokesperson for the firm has since said: "We know how disruptive and inconvenient this can be, especially on a festive holiday.

"Our engineers are on site and have stopped the flow of water which will reduce the number of properties affected."

He added that repairs would be carried out “as quickly as possible”, but said tankers would be used where needed in the meantime.

Thousands in the Guildford and Godalming area were left without water for several days in November – when a major incident was declared.

Thames Water apologised and a meeting was eventually called over what local politicians said was a failure to communicate with customers.
