Love Island narrator Iain Stirling will cover the show from London because of the potential threat of covid restrictions being brought in for Mallorca where it is set.

Mallorca is on the green list which means travellers are free to go there and Stirling’s wife, Laura Whitmore, who presents the show is there on location with the contestants,

All the newbie Love Island stars have jetted out for the series, ahead of its start on Monday June 28.

But Iain revealed he was going to be doing his job from home, like many of us, this series.

He told ITV’s Loose Women: “I am very excited, I have not been in a sound booth for quite some time.

“This is like my gaming room but it’s not quite the sound booth, I am looking forward to being locked away all summer.”

Asked if he might end up working from the Spanish island, he said: “We are in London, I think, now, this is the thing with coronavirus, I never want to say anything because you never know, who knows what’s going to happen.

“I don’t know what colour Mallorca is going to be next week, it will be tartan by the time I’m done with it.”

The ITV2 reality show will air next week and contenders include a semi-professional footballer, a lettings manager and the show’s first contestant with a physical disability.

Whitmore said she is “so excited to be back hosting”.

“It’s been a year where I think we all need a bit more love and fun in our lives and I think everyone is ready for Love Island to be back – myself included,” she said.
