The twin sister of a six-year-old boy killed in a pellet gun incident in East Yorkshire has led his funeral procession in a heartbreaking tribute.

Little Elsie-May donned a Hull City kit and sat on a horse and carriage carrying Stanley Metcalf's coffin a month after he was found fatally injured in Sproatley, near Hull, on July 26.

He died in hospital from an "airgun projectile wound to abdomen" later the same day.

A post-mortem examination revealed Stanley's cause of death to be an "airgun projectile wound to abdomen".

Stormtroopers and superheroes including Captain America and Iron Man led mourners, also wearing black and amber in tribute to football-mad Stanley, into Chanterlands Avenue Crematorium in the northern city on Wednesday.

The service was followed by a fun day event in Hull city centre

In a statement issued through Humberside Police ahead of the funeral, Stanley's family said: "We are absolutely devastated and completely heartbroken without Stanley and it still doesn't feel real we won't see his happy, smiling face again.

"There are no real words to express how the loss of Stanley has affected us and we all miss him so much.”
