Tweed says sorry for criminal past

12 April 2012

Jade Goody's husband Jack Tweed apologised to his wife for his criminal past as she lay suffering in hospital, it has been revealed.

Tweed, 21, who was convicted earlier this week of assaulting a taxi driver and is on a night-time curfew after another attack, spent a night with terminally-ill Goody on Tuesday after her emergency surgery to relieve the pain from her cancer.

Tweed told The Sun: "I was given permission to spend the night with Jade. I'm so happy - I just wish I could be there all the time.

"I told her I'm so sorry for my behaviour in the past. It's meant I haven't been there for her the whole time.

"I told her I've let everyone down but I've learned my lesson. And I said I'm worried that, once again, I won't be there for her and the family when they really need me."

Tweed will be sentenced later this month after being convicted on Tuesday for the taxi driver assault.

In January he was given early release from an 18 month jail term for another assault offence, remaining on a night-time curfew as a result. He was not allowed to visit her on Wednesday night.

Goody, 27, is recovering in London's Royal Marsden Hospital following the surgery on Monday.

Her cancer ordeal has been featuring in the media on a daily basis over recent weeks.

On Wednesday the reality star's publicist, Max Clifford said that if her condition continued to worsen, he would tell her that "enough is enough" and that she should withdraw from the public eye.
