Tom Daley dives in to praise his mother

Tom Daley today praised his mother after she launched a blistering attack on the head of British Swimming for criticising her son’s television career.

David Sparkes, the chief executive of the governing body, has accused Olympic bronze medallist Daley, 18, of jeopardising his prospects of a gold medal at the Rio Games in 2016, by appearing in the new ITV reality show Splash!

But today the teenage diver’s mother, Debbie Daley, hit back angrily calling the swimming boss a hypocrite and a poor leader who had only managed to hang on to his job because of her son’s success.

Daley showed his support for his mother’s comments on Twitter this morning, posting: “My mum is AMAZING :D x”
