Thousands of British holidaymakers have had their trips unexpectedly cancelled after a short-break tour operator went bust.
Financial difficulties have meant Diamond Shortbreak Holidays Ltd ceased trading on Thursday, according to a travel trade organisation.
About 16,000 people have had their breaks cancelled as a result of the firm going bust.
In statement, Association of British Travel Agents said all future bookings made with the firm will not go ahead.
It reads: “If you have booked a holiday with Diamond Holidays, Diamond Rail Holidays and The River Cruise Line, we regret that all future bookings have been cancelled and will not be going ahead.
“We will need to give you some specific advice depending on the type of booking that you have made. It is very important that you closely follow this advice.”
Around 16,000 holidaymakers who had booked non-flight-based package holidays, such as coach or rail trips, are financially protected through ABTA.
The firm employed 552 staff in the UK and a further 26 overseas and has been offering holidays in the UK and Europe for 19 years.
