Planning a Star Wars movie marathon this May the 4th, but don’t know where to start?

With the sheer number of movies and TV shows in the franchise, you won’t be alone in being overwhelmed with the amount of galactic content to consume.

But this Star Wars Day, fans are in luck, because physicists and Star Wars fans Davide Borchia and Luciano Mino created the Star Wars calculator to help fans plan their movie marathon.

The calculator creates a personalised Star Wars marathon based on factors like how familiar you are with the franchise, how much time you have to spend watching each day–and even your stance on Jar Jar Binks.

You’ll be given a personalised movie marathon plan, with the details on the order to watch and estimated duration.

Luciano said: “As a diehard Star Wars fan, I always want to share my love of this franchise with others.

“Given the sheer amount of material to cover, it can get overwhelming, so I truly believe my calculator can help tailor the best way to dive into the world of Star Wars for each individual viewer.”

How does the Star Wars marathon calculator work?

The Star Wars calculator will ask you a few questions about your knowledge and preferences to work out which movies and TV shows you should watch.

For example, are you a Youngling (someone who knows nothing about Star Wars) or a Jedi Grand Master (you’re ready to learn everything there is to know about the Star Wars universe)?

It will ask how long you can dedicate to Star Wars everyday and whether you will be taking snack breaks. Crucially, it will also ask you how you feel about Jar Jar Binks–with your answer impacting the results.

In terms of the order of your movie marathon, the calculator will also take into consideration your preference for watching the movies in chronological order or in order of release.

So, before you settle on your sofa and reach for the remote, do some forward planning to really make the most of your Star Wars movie (and TV show) marathon this May the 4th.
