The mother of Silent Witness actress Liz Carr today revealed details of the terrifying moment a thug stabbed at her daughter’s head with scissors.

Patricia Carr described how 45-year-old Carr, who portrays scientist Clarissa Mullery in the TV show, was attacked by the man near Euston last Thursday.

She revealed how her daughter’s PA and carer “saved” the actress by grappling with the man.

Ms Carr, who is also a comedian, has appeared in the BBC crime drama Silent Witness since 2013.

Her mother said: “She felt like she’d been hit on the head with a hammer.

“The PA tried to force him off, she shouted to Liz ‘just go, go,go,go’ ‎and Liz was shouting to people for help.

“Her carer and PA, she said, saved her life because she fought him off.

“She warned Liz that there was somebody and said ‘Liz, you need to go across the road’.”

A member of the public followed the man and directed police to his location where he was arrested.

Ms Carr is now recovering at home after suffering a slash to the head and lost a lot of blood.

Her mother told MailOnline: “She’s coping very well ‎and the wound wasn’t as bad as she thought considering the amount of blood.

“She’s got a head injury, like a graze, but with the amount of blood, it’s amazing it’s just a graze.

“There was blood on her wheelchair, her rucksack, all over the floor from her wounds, but it wasn’t too deep thankfully.”

Ms Carr, who has the rare genetic condition arthrogryposis multiplex congenita and has used a wheelchair since the age of seven. released her own statement yesterday confirming she will continue filming Silent Witness next week.

She said: “Just to reassure you that whilst it was very frightening at the time, I came out of it relatively unscathed and was even back home later that night.

“Looking forward to returning to filming on Silent Witness next week where thankfully all the violence is fake.”

Police arrested a man in his twenties who has now been detained under the Mental Health Act.
