Bradford crash: Harrowing footage of moment four men died while being chased by police

The moment four men were killed when their BMW crashed into a tree as they were pursued by police was captured in harrowing video footage.

In the video, the car can be seen hurtling along on the opposite side of the road before hitting a tree on Bingley Road in Bradford during the early hours of Thursday morning.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct is investigating the crash.

One resident on the road told the Bradford Telegraph and Argus that the street was "like a race track at night."

She added: "I heard a loud bang and went outside and there was lots of police."

Salim Rahman said that he heard the sound of the car crashing into the tree.

The 69-year-old said: "I have been living on Toller Lane for 33 years and there are always cars coming up here too quickly. It's not unusual to hear sirens and police chasing people."

Describing the victims as "youngsters", he added: "It's incredibly sad to hear about it, your heart goes out to their parents."

IOPC regional director Miranda Biddle said: "This is a most tragic incident and our sympathies are with the family and friends of those who have died.

"West Yorkshire Police made a mandatory referral to the IOPC and at 6.24am we declared an independent investigation. Our investigators are attending post-incident procedures, have travelled to the scene and have begun gathering evidence."

Police confirmed that four men died in the collision at the junction in Toller Lane in Bradford, and that the road is currently closed and likely to remain so for most of today."
