Shocking CCTV footage shows the moment a man and his dog were attacked in broad daylight by a baseball bat-wielding thug.

The alleged assault is reported to have taken place shortly after 12.40pm on Wednesday in Eccles, Salford.

The footage appears to show a man and his dog running away from their attacker, who is brandishing a baseball bat.

The armed man appears to strike the victim and his dog several times before walking off in the other direction.

The pet owner and his dog then follow the alleged attacker out of shot.

One witness told The Manchester Evening News they were shocked by what they’d seen.

The witness, who didn’t want to be named, said: “It’s just not what you expect to see at dinnertime.

The man then appears to hit the other man and his dog several times

“They were clearly having some sort of argument. He repeatedly struck the other guy and the dog at least twice.”

A spokesman for Greater Manchester police said they were aware of the incident but had not heard from the victim.
