All seven members of the billionaire Sackler family on the board of Napp Pharmaceuticals have stood down as directors.

A major Evening Standard investigation revealed how the Sacklers’ foundations have pumped millions of pounds into London’s art and culture scene but their products have been linked to the worst drugs crisis in US history, amid soaring opioid addiction rates.

Companies House documents reveal that the seven directors who are part of the Sackler dynasty all resigned simultaneously from the Cambridge-based drugs manufacturer on June 11.

They included Dame Theresa Sackler, the third wife of the late Mortimer Sackler, one of the three brothers who founded the business empire in the Fifties. The Standard disclosed in May that Mortimer avoided paying UK income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax by claiming non-domiciled status in Britain until his death at 93.

The Standard also revealed allegations that the Sacklers used a company in Bermuda to avoid paying hundreds of millions in corporation tax from Napp, although Napp said at the time that it was “transparent in our dealings with HMRC”.

A Napp spokesman said: “As part of ongoing and regular operational reviews, changes have been made to Napp’s board of directors.”
