Scarlett story to be made into film

12 April 2012

The case of a British teenager found raped and murdered in India is to be made into a film.

Scarlett Keeling's body was found semi-naked on Anjuna Beach in February and police initially claimed she had drowned accidentally.

A campaign by her mother Fiona MacKeown forced a second post-mortem examination and it was revealed Scarlett was attacked.

Now a Bollywood director is planning to make a film of the case.

It is understood Prabhakar Shukla will start filming Rave Party in July and has already approached actress Katrina Kaif to play Scarlett.

The news comes as Mrs MacKeown was told she will have to return to the UK without her daughter's organs which were taken following a post-mortem examination.

The 43-year-old flew back to India after it was discovered Scarlett's body was returned to Britain without her uterus, kidneys and stomach.

Mrs MacKeown said there was no reason for the entire organs to have been taken and she had not given her permission for that to happen.

She wants them returned before Scarlett is buried.

The Indian Government told Mrs MacKeown the request for the organs to be returned was "unprecedented" and there was no system in place for it to be carried out.
